Simbang Gabi in Imus Cathedral

I am not really the religious type and I’m not the type to go to church on a regular basis (I’m bordering on the agnostic but I do believe in GOD).

But I just feel that I have heaps of things to be thankful for because 2011 is such an awesome year for us. To cut this long story short, we decided to attend the early morning mass (more popularly known as Misa de Gallo or Simbang Gabi) in Imus Cathedral. I was with the husband, my sister and her boyfriend.

The homily was very apt for us because the priest talked about sterility in marriage. Not that I’m thinking that we’re sterile but because the husband and I are still praying and waiting for our firstborn.

We were seated outside the church due to the large crowd and we were just viewing the mass through an LCD TV but it didn’t make the mass any less special.

Imus Cathedral is quite a nostalgic church and a beautiful one at that. Something about the provincial air in Imus, Cavite made me feel that the mass is so much more meaningful for me that morning compared to all the mass I’ve attended before.

After the mass, we bought some puto bumbong which goes for 30Php a pack (a pack contains 4 pcs puto bumbong) and 1 pc. bibingka for 80Php. Both food items were being sold just within the vicinity of the Imus Cathedral.

Funny because the 3 of us were all gunning for the puto bumbong but the husband didn’t want any of it and instead ordered a chicken meal with rice in the nearby Mini-Stop 24-hour convenience store. Haha!

We would have wanted to jog around that morning but we were still too sleepy and opted to head back home right after eating.

I know we’ll never be able to finish the 9 consecutive early morning mass but I’m overly glad we were able to attend even just one.

I sincerely thank God for all his blessings.

And lest we forget, this is what Christmas is all about:

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

MERRY CHRISTMAS Everyone!

Enjoy the holidays.

XOXO,
